About the Crab
A crab is a hard-shelled sea animal with ten legs, the front two ending in claws for grabbing and pinching. Its little tail is folded up tight underneath its wide body, out of the way. Crabs are famous for scuttling sideways, which is the quickest way for their legs to carry them. Print this for an ocean or tide-pool unit and trace the sideways path around to the far claw.
- A crab has ten legs, and the front pair are claws.
- Crabs usually walk sideways because of the way their legs bend.
- A crab's tail is tucked underneath its body rather than trailing behind.
