About the Lotus
The lotus is a water plant that roots in the mud of ponds and lakes and lifts its large flowers on tall stems above the surface. Its round leaves float or stand clear of the water and shed drops so cleanly that dust rolls right off. The lotus is an important symbol in several Asian cultures. Solve this printable as a calm pond scene, then color the petals in soft pinks and whites.
- Lotus leaves are so water-repellent that raindrops bead up and slide away, keeping them clean.
- The lotus roots in pond mud but raises its flowers well above the water.
