About the Orca
The orca, or killer whale, is the largest member of the dolphin family, even though it can be as long as a bus. It is easy to recognize by its black body, white belly, and white patches near the eyes. Orcas live and hunt in family groups called pods and pass hunting tricks from parents down to their young. This maze fits an ocean unit, and the tall back fin gives kids a clear point to start the path.
- It is the biggest of all the dolphins.
- Orcas are found in every ocean, from the poles to the tropics.
- Each pod has its own set of calls, a little like an accent.
