About the Narwhal

The narwhal is a medium-sized whale that lives in the cold waters of the Arctic. Males grow a long, straight tusk that spirals as it goes, and it is actually an overgrown tooth that pokes out through the lip. This unusual tusk can reach three metres long and is thought to help the narwhal sense the water around it. This printable fits an Arctic or ocean-animals theme, with the pointed tusk making a clear start to the maze.

  • Narwhals dive deeper than almost any other sea mammal.
  • They are close relatives of the beluga whale.
  • They travel through Arctic waters in groups called pods.
