About the Turkey
The turkey is a large bird native to North America, best known as the roast served at Thanksgiving. Wild turkeys have dark, glossy feathers and can run fast and even fly in short bursts, while farm-raised turkeys are heavier and stay on the ground. The male fans out his tail and puffs up his feathers to show off, and the bare skin on his head and neck can change colour with his mood.
