About the Crane
Cranes are tall wading birds with long legs and long necks, among the tallest birds that can fly. They live in wetlands and open fields, where they hunt for plants, insects, and small animals. Cranes are famous for their dancing: pairs leap, bow, and flap their wings together, often staying with the same mate for life. This printable fits a wetland or bird unit, and the long neck and legs make a natural path to follow.
- They are among the tallest of all flying birds.
- Pairs perform leaping dances to bond with a mate.
- Many cranes migrate long distances in large flocks.
