About the Parrot
Colorful and clever, parrots are known for their strong curved beaks, upright stance, and clawed feet good for climbing. Most of the roughly 410 kinds live in warm tropical places, especially in South America and Australia. Many are excellent mimics, and some pet parrots learn to copy hundreds of words and sounds. Trace the curved beak and long tail, then color the feathers in bright rainbow shades.
- Parrots can grip and hold food in one foot, almost like a hand.
- Some parrots copy human speech, whistles, and even doorbells.
