About the Penguin
Dressed in black and white, penguins are seabirds that cannot fly through the air but 'fly' through the water using their flipper-shaped wings. Nearly all of them live in the Southern Hemisphere, from icy Antarctica to warmer coasts, with just one kind near the equator. Their black-and-white coloring helps hide them from predators both above and below in the sea. Waddle a pencil along the path for a polar or ocean theme, then color the tuxedo markings.
- Penguins use their wings as flippers to swim instead of to fly.
- Their black backs and white bellies help hide them in the water.
