About the Screw
A screw is a metal fastener with a spiral ridge, called a thread, winding around its body. As you twist it with a screwdriver, that thread pulls the screw deep into the wood and locks it in place. The winding grip holds far tighter than a smooth nail and can be backed out again. Add this printable to a how-things-hold-together lesson and trace the spiral down the screw.
- A screw's spiral thread pulls it into the wood and grips tighter than a nail.
