About the Hex nut
A hex nut is a small metal block with a threaded hole through the middle and six flat sides. It spins onto the matching thread of a bolt, and the two squeeze parts together and hold them fast. The six flat sides give a wrench a firm grip so you can turn it tight. Trace this printable in a nuts-and-bolts lesson and count the six sides around it.
- A nut screws onto a bolt, and together they hold parts tightly together.
