About the Nail
A nail is a thin metal spike with a flat head at one end and a sharp point at the other. You hammer the point into wood, and the nail's grip holds two pieces of wood tightly together. The flat head gives the hammer a spot to strike and stops the nail from sinking too far. Print this for a builders' lesson and trace the nail from head to point.
- You hit a nail's flat head while its sharp point grips the wood.
- Nails hold pieces of wood together in furniture, walls, and floors.
