About the Clarinet
The clarinet is a woodwind instrument with a long, straight black body and a single reed on its mouthpiece. Blowing makes the reed vibrate, and covering or opening the holes and keys along the tube changes the notes, giving it a smooth, warm voice. It can play a wide range, from low and mellow to high and bright. This suits a woodwind lesson, where kids can trace down the tube to the flared bell.
- The clarinet uses a single reed clamped to its mouthpiece.
- Its body is nearly a straight tube that flares out into a bell.
- It plays a wide range of low and high notes.
