About the Pan flute
A pan flute is a row of hollow pipes tied side by side, each one a different length. You blow across the open tops, and because each pipe is a slightly different size, each sounds its own note, from low on the long pipes to high on the short ones. It is a traditional folk instrument in many parts of the world. Print this for a music lesson and trace the path across the row of pipes.
- Each pipe of a pan flute plays one note; longer pipes sound lower.
- The pipes are often made from bamboo, cane, or reed.
- Each pipe is a closed tube blown across the top.
