About the Allosaurus
Allosaurus was a large meat-eating dinosaur that hunted across North America during the late Jurassic, tens of millions of years before T. rex appeared. It walked on two strong back legs and had short arms tipped with three clawed fingers. Its name means "different lizard," chosen because its backbones were lighter than scientists expected. Add this Allosaurus maze to a dinosaur unit or a Jurassic-theme day, and trace the path from its tail up to its jaws.
- It lived in the late Jurassic, long before Tyrannosaurus rex.
- The name Allosaurus means "different lizard."
- Most of its fossils come from the Morrison Formation of North America.
