About the Church
With its tall steeple pointing to the sky, a church is a building where Christians gather to worship and pray. The bells in that tower once rang to call the town together and to mark the passing hours. Older churches were often laid out in the shape of a cross when seen from above. Use this outline in a community-buildings lesson, or count the windows and doors as you find the way through.
- Church bells were long used to tell the time and to call people to gather.
- Many churches have tall pointed windows filled with colored stained glass.
