About the Kiwi
The kiwi is a small, round, flightless bird found only in New Zealand. It has soft, fuzzy feathers that look almost like fur, and a long slender beak. Unusually, its nostrils sit right at the tip of that beak, so it can sniff out worms and bugs in the ground at night. Trace the round body and long beak for a lesson on the unique animals of New Zealand.
- The kiwi is the only bird with nostrils at the very tip of its beak.
- Kiwis cannot fly and search for food on the ground at night.
