About the Mallard Duck
The mallard is the most familiar wild duck, living on ponds and lakes across much of the world. The male is easy to spot by his glossy green head, while the female wears speckled brown to stay hidden. Mallards are 'dabbling' ducks, tipping upside down to reach plants underwater with their tails in the air. Trace the path across the pond and color the male's shining green head.
- Only the male mallard has the shiny green head; females are brown.
- Mallards tip upside down to feed on plants under the water.
