About the Owl
With big heads, forward-facing eyes, and soft feathers, owls are birds of prey built for hunting in the dark. Most are active at night, using sharp hearing and eyesight to find mice and other small animals. Because an owl's eyes cannot move in their sockets, it turns its whole head instead, swiveling it around a remarkable distance.
