About the Horse
Raised and ridden by people for thousands of years, horses are hoofed mammals with long legs and flowing manes. Their ancestors were small, many-toed animals about the size of a dog, and over millions of years they grew larger and ended up walking on a single toe, the hoof. People first tamed horses in Central Asia around 6,000 years ago, and they have been partners for travel, farming, and sport ever since. This outline pairs nicely with a farm or Wild West theme, and the mane and tail are fun to color once the path is solved.
- A horse stands on a single toe, protected by the hard hoof.
- Horses can doze while standing thanks to a locking system in their legs.
- People began taming horses in Central Asia roughly 6,000 years ago.
