About the Willow
Willows are deciduous trees and shrubs in the genus Salix, a group of around 350 species. They like to grow where it is damp, along riverbanks and in other moist ground in cool and temperate places. The weeping willow is the best-known kind, with long, drooping branches that trail down toward the water. Follow the trailing branches to the end of this willow maze, a gentle choice for a pond or riverside nature unit.
- Willows are also known as sallows and osiers.
