About the Maple
Maples make up the genus Acer, a group of about 132 species with most of them native to East Asia. You can usually know a maple by its leaves, which spread out in the shape of an open hand. Maples are prized in gardens for the fiery reds and oranges their leaves turn in autumn. Wind a route through this maple maze, a colorful match for a fall or leaf-shape lesson.
- Maple seeds grow in winged pairs that spin like helicopters as they fall.
- Maple syrup is boiled down from the sap of certain maple trees.
