About the Vibraphone
The vibraphone has rows of tuned metal bars that you strike with soft mallets, giving it a smooth, shimmering ring. A small motor spins little discs inside the tubes below the bars, which makes the sound gently wobble and fade, an effect you can hear in jazz. A foot pedal lets the player hold notes or cut them short. Print this for a music lesson and trace across the metal bars.
- The vibraphone's bars are metal, unlike the wooden bars of a marimba.
- A spinning motor gives its notes a soft, shimmering wobble.
- A foot pedal lets the player sustain or stop the notes.
