About the Harmonica
The harmonica is a small wind instrument you play by breathing in and out through a row of holes. Behind each hole sits a thin metal reed that vibrates in the moving air to sound a note, so a whole tune fits in something that slips into a pocket. It is also called a mouth organ or French harp and is a staple of blues and folk music. Print it for a music lesson and trace the path along the row of holes.
- The harmonica sounds notes both when you blow out and when you breathe in.
- It is also known as the mouth organ or French harp.
- Behind each hole is a small brass or steel reed.
