About the Centipede
A centipede is a long, many-legged hunter with one pair of legs on each of its body segments. Even though the name means hundred-legs, no centipede actually has exactly 100 — the number of leg pairs is always odd and can range from 15 up to nearly 200. They catch prey using a pair of front legs modified into venomous fangs. This printable fits a lesson comparing centipedes with their many-legged millipede cousins.
- A centipede has one pair of legs per body segment.
- No centipede has exactly 100 legs; the count is always an odd number of pairs.
- Their front legs are modified into venom-injecting fangs.
