About the Utahraptor
Far bigger than the famous Velociraptor, Utahraptor was a giant raptor. On each foot it carried a curved sickle claw about as long as your hand, perfect for gripping prey. It hunted in what is now Utah about 135 million years ago, which is how it got its name. Use it in a claws-and-teeth theme, tracing the path to the long hooked claw on its foot.
- Utahraptor was a very large raptor with sickle-shaped foot claws.
- Its foot claws were about as long as a human hand.
- Its fossils were found in Utah, giving it its name.
