About the Dinosaur (T-Rex)
Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs, part of a group of reptiles that ruled the land for over 150 million years. Dinosaurs first appeared in the Triassic period and dominated Earth until an extinction event about 66 million years ago wiped out all but one lineage. That surviving line became modern birds, so the sparrows at a feeder are technically dinosaurs too. Print this T-Rex maze for a dinosaur-day station where kids trace the path from tail to teeth and then color the scales.
- Birds evolved from small feathered dinosaurs, making them the only dinosaur group alive today.
- T. rex had banana-sized teeth and one of the strongest bites of any land animal known.
- Dinosaurs lived across the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods of the Mesozoic era.
