About the Koala
The koala is a tree-dwelling marsupial from Australia, easy to spot by its round fuzzy ears and large dark nose. It feeds almost entirely on eucalyptus leaves, which are so low in energy that koalas rest and sleep for most of the day. Despite the nickname, it is not a bear at all, and its closest relative is actually the wombat. A cozy fit for an Australian-animals theme.
- Koalas eat almost nothing but eucalyptus leaves.
- They sleep up to 20 hours a day to save energy.
- A koala is a marsupial, not a bear, and its closest relative is the wombat.
