About the Deer
Graceful and quick, deer are hoofed animals that live in forests and meadows and feed on plants. Males of most kinds grow a set of bony antlers each year and shed them when the season ends, growing new ones the next. A newborn deer, called a fawn, is up and walking within just a few hours of birth. This suits a forest or woodland theme, tracing a path among the trees.
- Male deer grow and shed a new set of antlers every year.
- A baby deer, called a fawn, can walk within hours of being born.
- A fawn's spotted coat helps it hide among leaves and shadows.
