About the Wrench
A wrench, also called a spanner, is a tool for turning bolts and nuts. Its shaped jaws grip the flat sides of a fastener so it does not slip while you twist. The long handle gives your hand extra turning power to loosen something stuck tight. Add this printable to a how-things-are-built lesson and follow the handle down to the gripping end.
- A wrench grips the flat sides of a bolt or nut so it will not slip.
- The long handle gives extra turning power, which is called torque.
