About the Stag Beetle
Stag beetles are large beetles named for the oversized jaws of the males, which curve like a stag's antlers. Males use these jaws to wrestle one another, much as deer lock antlers. Most are around two inches long, though the biggest can stretch to nearly five inches. This printable fits a lesson on the biggest, strangest-looking beetles, tracing a path between those antler jaws.
- Male stag beetles have large jaws shaped like a deer's antlers.
- They use these jaws to wrestle rival males.
