About the Katydid
Katydids are green, leaf-shaped relatives of crickets and grasshoppers, sometimes called bush crickets. Their wings look so much like leaves that they blend right into the plants they sit on. Males call out on summer nights, and the name katydid comes from the rhythm of that song. Add this katydid to a camouflage lesson about the insects that hide in plain sight.
- Katydids have green, leaf-like wings that help them hide.
