About the Cormorant
Cormorants are dark water birds found near coasts, lakes, and rivers around the world. They are expert divers, plunging underwater and swimming after fish with strong webbed feet. Because their feathers are not fully waterproof, you often see a cormorant perched with its wings spread wide to dry in the sun. Trace the path from the water to a sunny perch, then draw its wings held open.
- Cormorants dive and swim underwater to catch fish.
- They spread their wings out to dry because their feathers soak up water.
