About the Ginger
Ginger is a knobby underground root, called a rhizome, with a spicy, warm taste. It is grated or sliced to flavor foods and drinks, and it has been used as a folk remedy for a long time. The plant sends up tall leafy shoots above the ground while the root grows below. Use this printable for a cooking or five-senses theme, tracing the bumpy, branching root.
- The part of ginger we use is an underground stem called a rhizome.
