About the Socket wrench
A socket wrench uses a hollow cap, called a socket, that slips right over the head of a bolt. Because the cap wraps all the way around, it grips better than an open-ended wrench and is less likely to slip. A handle turns the socket to spin the bolt tight or loose. Print this for a how-things-are-built lesson and trace the handle down to the socket.
- A socket wraps all the way around a bolt head, so it grips very firmly.
- Different sockets snap onto the handle to fit different bolt sizes.
