About the Star
A star symbol is the familiar shape we use to mean something special, bright or a top rating. We draw it with five sharp points, but a real star in space is actually a giant glowing ball of hot gas. The closest star to us is the Sun, which only looks bigger because it is so much nearer than the others. Print this star shape for a reward chart or a lesson about the night sky.
- Real stars are huge glowing balls of gas, not pointed like the drawn symbol.
- The Sun is the star closest to Earth.
