About the Rugby ball
A rugby ball has an oval, egg-like shape instead of a round one. That pointed form makes it easy to tuck under an arm while running, but it bounces in wild, hard-to-guess directions when it hits the ground. Two kinds of the game, called rugby union and rugby league, both use it. Print this for a sports-day table and let kids guess which way a real one would bounce.
- A rugby ball's oval shape makes its bounce very hard to predict.
- Rugby union and rugby league share the same ball shape but play by different rules.
