About the Balloon
A balloon is a thin, stretchy bag that puffs up when you fill it with air or a light gas. The first ones were not rubber at all, since people once made them from dried animal bladders. Fill a balloon with helium instead of your breath and it floats, because helium is lighter than the air around it. Print this balloon shape for a birthday table so each guest can color one before the party starts.
- Modern balloons are usually made from latex, the milky sap of rubber trees.
- Balloons do more than decorate: weather stations send them high into the sky to measure the air.
