About the Dutch windmill
A windmill is a machine that catches the wind on large sails or blades and uses that power to do work, such as grinding grain into flour. The tall tower kind familiar from the Dutch countryside first appeared in northwestern Europe hundreds of years ago. As the wind turns the sails, gears inside spin heavy stones that crush the grain. Trace the four turning sails on this printable and color the windmill against a blue sky.
